About Dokodemo Denwa

An IMS software company founded by engineers who want wireless connectivity to be available to everyone.

Our story

Dokodemo Denwa was founded by technology specialists with a goal of democratizing wireless connectivity. We are a small company developing software for rural installations across the wide variety of 4G and 5G systems run by non-traditional carriers, such as ISPs, CLECs and enterprises that need private LTE integrated with fiber. Our founders have more than 15 years of experience in software-based networks and have deployed IMS in industries from utilities to public safety.

Our founders' work includes IMS for LTE smart grids that made low-latency communication possible, and support for private LTE networks in disaster areas. Dokodemo Denwa builds on that experience with 5G SA IMS for smart cities and industrial sites in Asia and beyond.

We support emerging standards such as 3GPP Release 17, with a focus on enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communications (mMTC) and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC).

Our IMS extends legacy networks, supports IoT integration, and enables custom applications through APIs, so you stay competitive as wireless technology moves quickly.

What we offer

One IMS platform with scalability, flexibility and security built in, and APIs for customization. It is designed to work with a wide range of applications, architectures and radios, and it follows global wireless standards so it interoperates with the equipment smaller operators already run.

Radio vendors

In the United States, many non-traditional carriers build their networks on CBRS, the shared 3.5 GHz band. Common choices for CBRS macrocell radios include Samsung, Ericsson, Nokia and Airspan. We have integrated our software directly with Samsung.

Open source

We support VoLTE and SMS configuration for docker_open5gs (docker_open5gsによるVoLTEとSMSの設定), a Japanese open-source project. It is a step-by-step guide for anyone who wants to try standing up VoLTE calling and SMS on a private 4G network.

The guide builds on docker_open5gs, which packages the Open5GS core network in Docker containers. It adds Kamailio for the IMS call-control functions and Osmocom components for SMS, and it also shows how to send SMS over IMS alone. It runs on a small virtual machine with 2 CPU cores and 4 GB of memory, and includes experimental notes for a Raspberry Pi 4B. You supply your own LTE base station and programmable SIM cards.

It is a practical way to learn how VoLTE and SMS work before committing to a commercial platform.
